Delicado “Rosebud”

A Delicado “Rosebud” is one who is given outstanding recognition for her dedication and service to the organization.  She has to have been active in the chapter by serving as chairman of a committee, an officer or an active committee member for at least five years.  She is required to have attended at least two Conclaves and two Board Meetings.  Names are submitted and voted on by chapter members.

Special recognition is bestowed at the National Conclave, with an announcement presentation in the Opening Procession, with special seating at the Business Meeting and luncheon, including a “Rose”, presented by National at the luncheon.  A picture and write-up are also presented in “The Rose”, our annual newsletter.  Richmond Chapter further honors its “Rosebud” with a “Rose” bouquet at their May meeting.

Richmond’s 2022 Rosebud: Dr. Hattie Webb

The Richmond Chapter of Delicados, Inc. is pleased  to present Dr. Hattie Webb as their Rosebud for 2022.  Hattie has been a Delicado sister since 2008.  Since she joined the chapter, she has earned the respect and confidence of the sisters as she displayed her work ethic and a willingness to share her skills.

Hattie is a native of Gloucester County, Virginia and a graduate of Thomas C. Walker High School.  She subsequently attended Hampton Institute (now University),Teachers College of Columbia University, and last, College of William and Mary, where she received her Doctorate in Education Administration. After her varied  career in education, she retired as Assistant Superintendent of Henrico County Public Schools.

Hattie has served on the health, audit and education committees during her initial years as a Delicado and served as corresponding secretary for a three-year term.  Presently, she is Chairman of the Technology-Archives and Scrapbook Committee, where she has been active in assisting other members to use technology to serve the needs of the chapter.   Hattie has served on the audit committee for several years, providing information and insight based on her professional and church experiences.  She also willingly shares her music skills as musician  for the Richmond Delicado Chapter and also serves as co- director of the Conclave Choir.  Over the years, Hattie has demonstrated her dedication and commitment to the mission of Delicados and her willingness to support others in their chapter activities.

In addition to her Delicado membership , Hattie is active in the community.  She is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where’s she served as a Trustee, Director of Music, Choir Director and Organist through the years.  Currently, Hattie serves as chairman of Ebenezer’s audit committee, member of the church board of administration, member of Ebenezer’s HVAC team and helps to keep  the congregation informed of any updates to the Sunday service or other church events through telecommunication.   Hattie still finds the time to serve both the Richmond-Henrico Retired Teachers Association and AARP #390 chapter.  She is also a proud member of  Richmond Alumnae Association  of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and directed  the Delta Pearls Choir for several years.  Her service at Ebenezer and the other organizations are yet more examples of her care and concern for her community.

Hattie enjoys reading, watching movies and exercising.  The Richmond Chapter of Delicados, Incorporated congratulates our 2022 Rosebud, Hattie Webb.
