Debutante Taylor Rawlings

Dear Richmond Delicados President and members,

2020-Debutante Taylor RawlingsMy name is Debutante Taylor Rawlings daughter of Michael Rawlings and Almeater Alston. I am an honor roll senior at Glen Allen High School where I am involved in the orchestra, marching band and various school clubs. I am an active and dedicated member of several organizations such as Jack and Jill of America, Inc.; National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), where I obtained my student pilots license; a Del Teen for the Richmond Delicados, and the YMCA Shady Grove’s Leaders club.  I have volunteered over 250 hours in my community, participated in STEM camps and held several leadership roles. I plan to matriculate to college in the fall of 2021 to major in a STEM field.

I have recently been selected as a Debutante for the 2020/21 Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Program hosted by A Girl’s Gift, Inc., Charlotte Chapter. The Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Program was developed for young ladies who are juniors and seniors in high school in order to equip, encourage, and stimulate them to pursue higher education, academic excellence, personal development, and civic involvement. Each debutante also works to earn scholarship dollars toward higher education.

The program objectives are achieved through a five-month curriculum consisting of educational workshops, activities, community service outings and dance rehearsals. The culminating event of the program is the Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Ball, to be held on April 3, 2021, in which the debutantes are formally presented to society, as well as awarded scholarships.

I feel very fortunate to have been chosen as a Debutante, as I will have the opportunity to learn more about thriving in college and gain scholarship dollars that are much needed in my pursuit of higher education. I am asking for your support. All proceeds are tax deductible and will go toward scholarships for college-bound participants.

May I count on you to support me financially and in your prayers? Any contribution you would like to give will be appreciated. In order to be properly recognized in the program book for the Debutante Cotillion, please remit your contribution by February 1, 2021.
