A Delicado “Rosebud” is one who is given outstanding recognition for her dedication and service to the organization. She has to have been active in the chapter by serving as chairman of a committee, an officer or an active committee member for at least five years. She is required to have attended at least two Conclaves and two Board Meetings. Names are submitted and voted on by chapter members.
Special recognition is bestowed at the National Conclave, with an announcement presentation in the Opening Procession, with special seating at the Business Meeting and luncheon, including a “Rose”, presented by National at the luncheon. A picture and write-up are also presented in “The Rose”, our annual newsletter. Richmond Chapter further honors its “Rosebud” with a “Rose” bouquet at their May meeting.
Richmond’s 2024 Rosebud: Almeater Alston
The Richmond Chapter of Delicados, Inc. is pleased to present Almeater Alston as their Rosebud for 2024. Almeater has been a Delicado sister since 2014. Since she joined the chapter, she has earned the respect and confidence of the sisters as she displayed her work ethic and a willingness to lead and share her skills. Almeater is a native of Richmond, Virginia and a graduate of Open High School. She subsequently attended Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Based Management Information Systems. She earned a Master of Business Administration from Averett University. Almeater has worked as a Enterprise Program and Project Manager in both the private and public sector. She currently works as a Senior Program/project Manager for the Commonwealth of Virginia!
Almeater, a 10-year member, has served on several committees, locally as Reporter and nationally as Technology Committee Chair. She currently serves as one of our Tri-Chairs for our 61st annual Conclave. Over the years, Almeater has demonstrated her dedication and commitment to the mission of Delicados and her willingness to support others in their chapter activities.
In addition to her Delicado membership, Almeater is a member of Faith Landmark Christian Church, she frequently attends St. Paul’s Baptist church, she is the scholarship chair for the Howard University Alumni Club-Richmond where she was instrumental in raising over $25K for scholarships for the 2024-2025 program year: Almeater is a proud member of the Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Almeater is an associate jewel for the Richmond Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Where she served for 21 years.
Her service at Faith Landmark and the other organizations are yet more examples of her care and concern for her community.
Almeater is the proud mother of two daughters, Brittany(Jonathan) and Taylor; a grandmother to Jonah, Samuel and Levi. Partner to Del-Gent Breck Harris and is blessed with loving parents Henry and Sallie Smith and one brother Louis Smith.
Almeater enjoys, reading, attending concerts, line dancing and traveling. Almeater welcomes you to her hometown for the 61st Delicados Conclave.
